Milton-Freewater Humane Society
Milton-Freewater Humane Society, Inc. (MFHS) has been
active since 2002. Initially called P.E.T.S., then Pets
of Milton-Freewater, Inc., they were renamed
Milton-Freewater Humane Society, Inc. in January, 2010.
MFHS is incorporated as a 501(c)3 charitable
organization.
MFHS's primary mission is to promote
spay/neuter and adoption as a means of decreasing the
number of pets needing new homes. They are especially
interested in the spay/neuter of feral and stray cats
that produce many offspring that face uncertain and
hard lives.
Working with other area animal welfare organizations,
MFHS leads the way in the area for Trap-Neuter-Return
(TNR) of stray/feral cats in this region. They refer pets
in need of new homes to the No-Kill shelter, Pioneer
Humane Society, in Pendleton and urge Umatilla residents
to financially support this new shelter so it will
succeed.
